Employment Pass and S Pass holders earning a minimum monthly salary of S$5,000 can bring their common-law spouse, step-children and handicapped children to Singapore on a Long Term Visit Pass. Those earning over S$10,000 per month can also bring in their parents.
The LTVP is issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) and does not allow its holders to work in Singapore. If they find a job, they must apply for an applicable work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass. The LTVP is valid for up to 2 years but tied to the validity of the main pass holder’s Employment Pass or S Pass.
The Long Term Visit Pass issued by the MoM must be distinguished from the Long Term Visit Pass and the Long Term Visit Pass Plus (LTVP+) issued by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). While the LTVP issued by the MoM does not allow its holder to work, there are different rules for the LTVP/LTVP+ issued by the ICA. The latter are for family members of Singaporeans and Permanent Residents and certain other individuals and in some cases allow their holders to work under a Letter of Consent.
